SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Parachute Equipment

AD/PARA/9 Emergency Parachute Opening Mechanism 7/2003

Applicability: Rettungsfallschirm RFS II emergency parachutes, part number 904000-11, serial numbers 90001 through 90133.

Requirement: Action in accordance with Bruggemann Gmbh & Co. KG Technische Mitteilung No.

LBA 001, dated 11 April 2003.

Note: German LBA AD 2003-162 refers

Compliance: Before 30 September 2003.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 July 2003.

Background: Yearly inspection reports received by the manufacturer indicated that the upper pin of the parachute opening mechanism is contacting the cable protection cover. This situation, unless corrected, could result in increased actuation force to use the parachute in an emergency situation.
