Amdt 1

Flap Drive Mechanism 1/86

Applicability: All model PA-46 and PA-46-310P with S/No’s referenced in the Requirement Document.

Requirement: Piper Service Bulletin 780A.

Compliance: Part 1 of Requirement Document: Within 25 hours time in service after 31 October 1984.

Part 2 of Requirement Document: At the next scheduled inspection for maintenance release issue after 31 January 1986.

Background:  Field reports of flap system malfunction indicate that the flap roller has bound in the inboard track. Such binding could cause an asymmetric (split flap) condition which could result in difficulty maintaining lateral control. This amendment references Revision A of the Requirement Document which extends the requirement to include a new flap selector valve with a lower relief valve setting.
