SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Piper PA-46 (Malibu) Series Aeroplanes
AD/PA-46/11 De-Ice Pressure Control Valve 6/86 DM
Applicability: 1. All model S/Nos 46-8408001 to 46-8508018
2. All model S/Nos 46-8408001 to 46-8508018 fitted with Hose kit Part No 765-159 and S/Nos 46-8508019 to 46-8508029.
Requirement: Action in accordance with Piper Service Bulletin No 803A.
Compliance: 1. Prior to the next flight into icing conditions, after 16 May 1986 and thereafter every 25 hours until kit, Piper Part No 765-159V, is installed.
2. Within 25 hours time in service after 16 May 1986 and thereafter every 50 hours until the Pressure Control Valve Piper Part No 84523-4 is replaced by Part No 845423-805.
Background: BF Goodrich, manufacturer of the pneumatic de-ice components used in the Malibu, have advised that a sticking condition will occur to the Pressure Control Valve due to carbon residue from the vacuum pump mixed with a waxy substance which is extracted from the hoses in the system.
