Piper PA-44 (Seminole) Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/PA-44/16 Ailerons 12/95

Applicability: All models that have exceeded 2000 hours time in service since new. Requirement: 1. Remove the left hand and right hand ailerons.

2.    Carry out a detailed visual inspection of the nose ribs and hinge brackets of each aileron for evidence of cracking.

 

3.    Install ailerons after inspection or rectification.

 

Compliance: At the next inspection for maintenance release issue after 9 November 1995, and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 500 hours time in service.

 

Background:  Several recent local reports have been received of cracking of the aileron nose ribs and hinge brackets at multiple locations on low time aircraft.
