Amdt 1

Aileron Hinge Fitting Assembly 10/93

Applicability: Model PA-34-200T and -220T.

Requirement: Carry out a detailed visual inspection of the aileron hinge fitting assemblies for corrosion, with special attention to the section of the fitting enclosed by the aileron. Evidence of corrosion on the enclosed section of the fitting will necessitate removal of the fitting from the aileron to allow closer inspection/corrosion removal.

Compliance: Prior to 15 December 1992, and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 3 calendar years. The compliance date of the original issue of this Directive remains unchanged, while the repetitive inspection requirement is added by this issue. This amendment is effective from 16 September 1993.

Background: This Directive was prompted by reports of severe corrosion on a significant number of local aircraft.

Amendment 1 is issued in response to further reports of corrosion on an aircraft that had had corrosion rectification carried out.
