SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


Piper PA-30 & 39 (Twin Comanche) Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/PA-30/7 Cabin Heater - Inspection 8/69

Applicability: All models fitted with Stewart-Warner “Southwind” model 940 series cabin heaters. Requirement:              1. Remove the heater exhaust tube shroud and determine by means of a magnet if the

Stewart-Warner P/N 286238 (Piper P/N 754708) exhaust extension is mild steel

(magnetic) or stainless steel (non-magnetic). Mild steel extensions shall be replaced with stainless steel extensions except that, where spare stain- less steel parts are not immediately available, new or non- deteriorated mild steel extensions may continue to be used subject to visual inspection for deterioration in the form of cracking, rusting or flaking at intervals not exceeding 25 hours time in service.

 

2. Overhaul and test the heater in accordance with the procedures laid down in Stewart-Warner Service Manual PM-10035 dated July 1966; or

 

3. FAA AD 69-13-3.

 

Compliance: For Para. 1 - Within 25 hours time in service after 11 August 1969.

 

For Para. 2 - For heaters having 900 hours or more total time in service as at 11 August 1969:              Within 100 hours time in service after 11 August 1969 unless already accomplished within the last 400 hours time in service and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 500 hours time in service.

 

For heaters having less than 900 hours total time in service as at 11 August 1969: Prior to the accumulation of 1000 hours total time in service and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 500 hours time in service.
