Amdt 1


Fuselage Door Frame Tube Corrosion 1/87

 

Applicability: All model PA-20 with S/Nos 20-01 to 20-1121. Requirement:  1. Action in accordance with Piper SB No 819; or

2. Carry out a radiographic inspection of the areas stipulated in Piper SB No 819 to a scheme approved by the Secretary.

 

Compliance: 1. Unless previously accomplished, prior to 30 November 1986; or

 

2. Unless previously accomplished, prior to 30 November 1986 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 3 years.

 

Note: Radiographic technique No ANTDS.86.4 by Gippsland Aeronautics is a scheme acceptable for compliance with this Directive.

 

Background: The manufacturer reports instances of excessive corrosion between steel tubing and preformed stell sections which form the structure of the door frames, windshield and baggage areas of the fuselage.
