Fuel and Janitrol Lines 6/96

 

Applicability: Model P68C-TC up to S/N 375-45-TC; P68 TC Observer S/N 344-01-OTC and S/N 340-02-OTC; P68, P68B, P68R, P68C and P68 Observer from S/N 01 up to and including 381.

 

Requirement: Gain access to fuel and janitol system lines behind the engine upper firewalls. Inspect lines to ensure no asbestos fire sleeving is present and lines are free of corrosion.

Inspect front face of spar, in area where the lines are located for signs of corrosion. If corrosion is present, action in accordance with Partenavia Service Instruction 17, 39 or 40, as applicable. If stainless steel lines are installed and no corrosion is present on the wing spar, compliance with this Directive can be certified as terminating action.

Compliance: If not previously inspected; by 30 May 1996. Thereafter re-inspect at intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service until the fuel and janitrol lines have been replaced with stainless steel lines. A certification, when stainless steel lines have been installed, must be entered in the airframe log book.

 

Background:  Aluminium fuel lines located behind the engine firewall are prone to corrosion and require replacement with lines made from stainless steel.
