Flap Actuator Switch - Inspection and Replacement 3/80
Applicability: All models.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the flap actuator switch to determine if switch P/N NOR 7-345-4 (Honeywell Product P/N 13AT3) is fitted to the aircraft.
2. Remove the above flap switch if fitted.
3. The original flap switch P/N NOR 7-345-1/M may be refitted provided that the rubber ring is installed and the knob adjusted for a 4mm gap between the edge of the mounting bushing and the base of the knob; or
an equivalent switch approved by the Secretary may be installed.
Note: A switch installation in accordance with Drawing No. EDS 140 supplied by Forrestair is an acceptable means of compliance.
Compliance: Before 31 March 1980.
Note: Compliance with the original AD/P68/17 does not constitute compliance with this AD/P68/17A.
Background: The new flap switch which Partenavia SB No. 46 called up (P/N NOR 7-345- 4/Honeywell P/N 13AT3) has proved to be electrically inadequate and at least two open circuit micro switches have been reported. The manufacturer’s rating of the switch is 3 amps inductive load at 30V DC and the flap motor draws up to 6 amps. If the original switch has the rubber ring fitted correctly it should be satisfactory for operational use and the switch is more than adequate electrically.
