SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

Mitsubishi MU-2 Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/MU-2/69 Flap Drive Torque Tube  2/2002 DM

 

Applicability: Model MU-2B; MU-2B-10, -15, -20, -25, -26, -30, -35, and -36 aircraft, with serial

numbers 008 through 347, and 501 through 696; excluding aircraft with serial

numbers 313, 321, 652, and 661.

 

Requirement:  Inspect in accordance with Mitsubishi Service Bulletin No. 237, dated 13 December 2001.

 

Note: JCAB AD TCD-5864-2001 refers.

 

Compliance: Before further flight after 16 January 2002, unless already accomplished.

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 16 January 2002.

 

Background:  The JCAB requires inspection to detect improper installation of flap drive torque tubes which could result in disconnection of the flap drive train, and consequent asymmetrical flap deployment and loss of control of the aircraft.
