Mitsubishi MU-2 Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/MU-2/56 Underspeed Governor Minimum Stop 9/94 DM

Applicability: All MU-2B-26A, -36A, -40 and -60 aircraft and any MU-2B-36 aircraft previously modified in accordance with FAA Supplemental Type Certificate SA2413SW.

 

Requirement: 1. Action in accordance with the technical requirements of paragraphs (a) (b) (c) (d) & (e) of FAA AD 94-11-04 Amdt 39-8920.

 

2. Amend the Limitations Section of the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) to include the minimum engine idle speed of 76.5%.

 

Note: The applicable Green Page amendment to the AFM will be available from Civil Aviation Authority District Offices.

 

Compliance: Unless previously carried out within 25 hours time in service from 29 June 1994.

 

Note: CAO 107 AD/PHZL/64 mandates inspection of the propeller hub arms.

 

Background: During investigation following a fatal accident it was discovered that a reduction in the fatigue strength of the propeller hub could occur because of high vibration frequencies during ground idle speed.
