SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

Pratt and Whitney Turbine Engines - JT9D Series

 

AD/JT9D/38 High pressure Turbine Disc - Inspection 10/2002

 

Applicability: Pratt and Whitney JT9D series engines as listed in FAA AD 2001-04-11.

 

Requirement: Carry out the initial inspection and the repetitive inspections of the first stage high pressure discs per the technical requirements of FAA AD 2001-04-11.

Note: FAA AD 2001-04-11 Amdt 39-12130 refers.

 

Compliance: Unless previously accomplished, as detailed in the requirement document with a revised effective date of 3 October 2002.

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 3 October 2002.

 

Background: This directive is prompted by the discovery of a crack in the cooling hole of a high pressure turbine disc which could result in uncontained engine failure and damage to the aircraft.
