Wing/Fuselage Attachment 13/97
Applicability: Jetstream Series 3200 aircraft, with constructors numbers 790 through 960.
Requirement: Action in accordance with BAe Regional Aircraft Mandatory Service Bulletin 57-JA 921144 Revision 3.
Compliance: As specified in the requirement document.
This airworthiness directive becomes effective on 4 December 1997.
Background: Both wing/fuselage forward attachment sliding joint spigots seized on the fatigue test specimen during tests. An investigation revealed that the failure was due to inadequate lubrication between the spigot and bush. On the fatigue test specimen this had led to cracks in the spigot housing plate. Amendment 1 corrected the drilling and reaming instructions of the previous issue.
Amendment 2 is issued in response to a revision of the requirement document which may require further work for operators.
