AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/INST/46 SVS III Standby Vacuum System 6/2000
Applicability: Precise Flight Inc. Model SVS III standby vacuum system installed by one of the following FAA approved Supplemental Type Certificates (STC). SA2160NM, SA2161NM, SA2162NM, SA2163NM, SA2164NM, SA2166NM, SA2167NM,
SA2168NM, SA2683NM or any Precise Flight Inc. SVS III standby vacuum system incorporated by local modification action.
Requirement: 1. For aircraft modified in accordance with one of the above listed STCs. Incorporate the Precise Flight Inc. flight manual supplement in the aircraft flight manual. Affix any placard specified in the flight manual supplement in the location specified.

2. For aircraft modified by local modification action. Incorporate a copy of the Appendix to FAA AD 99-24-10 in the aircraft flight manual. Affix any placards specified in the Appendix in the location specified.
3. Inspect the push pull cable, vacuum lines, saddle fittings, and shuttle valve for correct installation and damage in accordance with Section 3.3 of Precise Flight Installation Report No 50050 Revision 25 dated August 26, 1996.

Compliance: 1. Unless previously accomplished, within 30 days time in service from the effective date of this directive.
2. Unless previous accomplished, within 30 days time in service from the effective date of this directive.
3. Unless previously accomplished, within 12 months time in service from the effective date of this directive. Thereafter, re-inspect all components excluding the shuttle valve at intervals not exceeding 12 calendar months time in service. Re- inspect the shuttle valve at intervals not exceeding 24 calendar months time in service.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 June 2000.
Background: FAA has received reports of shuttle valve failures and standby vacuum system malfunction on aircraft.
