AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: Model Astra SPX aeroplanes with serial numbers 073, 079 through 125 inclusive and 127.
Requirement: Inspect the clearance between the electrical wiring bundles and the Air Data Reference and Reversionary Switching Panels; and, if necessary, install additional clamping. These actions are to be accomplished in accordance with Astra Alert Service Bulletin No 1125-31A-236 dated 16 April 2001.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 June 2001.
Background: Insufficient clearance has been found between the left and right electrical wiring bundles next to the pilot and co-pilot Air Data Reference and Reversionary Switching Panels. This condition, if not corrected, could cause chafing of the wire bundle and possible smoke and/or fire in the cockpit.
