Israel Aircraft Industries 1125 (Astra) Series Aeroplanes
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/IAI-A/8 Brake System Hydraulic Fuse 7/2001
Applicability: Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. (IAI) 1125 Westwind Astra and Astra SPX series aircraft.
Requirement: 1. Perform a functional test (by measuring fluid loss) for proper operation of hydraulic fuses installed in brake system and emergency hydraulic indicating system in accordance with Astra Service Bulletin (SB) 1125-32-154.
If during the inspection any discrepancy is found, replace the fuse with a new, improved fuse part number 713047 with suffix “A” after the serial number, prior to further flight.
2. Do not install a hydraulic fuse having part number 713047, unless it has a suffix “A” after the serial number.
Note 1: CAA Israel AD 29-97-03-10 and FAA AD 98-06-10 refer.
Note 2: Replacement of fuse with part number 713047 with suffix “A” after the serial number does not constitute a terminating action for the repeat inspections.
Compliance: 1. Unless previously accomplished, carry out initial inspection within 250 flight hours or 1 year after the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive, whichever occurs first. Thereafter repeat the inspection at intervals not to exceed 1000 flight hours or 3 years, whichever occurs first.
2. From the effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 12 July 2001.
