AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: All Astra SPX aircraft, serial numbers 085 to 112.

Requirement: Perform the initial inspections, repetitive inspections and rework in accordance with the instructions and criteria of Astra Alert Service bulletin 1125-55A-192 Revision 1, as follows:
- Carry out an initial inspection in accordance with Part 1 of the requirement document to determine whether the countersink angle is correct.
If the countersink angle is correct, no further action is required.
2. If the countersink angle is incorrect, repetitively inspect the attachment bolt heads, as detailed in Part 1 of the requirement document.
3. Rework the countersink angle in accordance with the instructions in Part 2 of the requirement document. Accomplishment of this rework constitutes terminating action for the repetitive inspections at Requirement 2.
Note: Israeli CAA AD 55-99-04-02R2 refers.
Compliance: 1. Within 30 Hours Time in Service after 17 May 2001.
2. At intervals not to exceed 50 hours Time in Service, commencing after the initial inspection.
3. Not later than 250 hours Time in Service after the initial inspection, unless previously accomplished.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 17 May 2001.

Background: The Israeli CAA has found that a number of Astra SPX aircraft were manufactured with an incorrect countersink angle on Horizontal Stabiliser Lower Scissors Attachment Bolt Holes. Incorrect countersink angle can cause premature failure of the bolts, thus compromising the aircraft’s airworthiness.
