AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: Model Hawker 800XP and 800 aircraft, with serial numbers 258287 through 258390; excluding serial numbers 258289, 258291, 258292, 258293, 258294, 258295,

258301, 258303, 258310, 258312, 258313, 258315, 258321, 258336, and 258343.

 

Requirement: 1. For Model Hawker 800XP aircraft identified in effectivity of Raytheon Service Bulletin SB 51-3408, dated October 2000, excluding Service Bulletin/Kit Drawing Report Fax: Inspect in accordance with above referenced service bulletin.

2.        For Model Hawker 800XP aircraft identified in effectivity of Raytheon Service Bulletin SB 51-3426, Revision 1, dated November 2001, excluding Service Bulletin/Kit Drawing Report Fax: Inspect in accordance with above referenced service bulletin. Inspection before the effective date of this Directive in accordance with the original issue of above referenced service bulletin, is acceptable for compliance with the inspection requirements only for those locations identified in the original service bulletin; Revision 1 requires inspections at additional locations.

 

3.        For Model Hawker 800 aircraft identified as Group A aircraft in Raytheon Service Bulletin SB 51-3421, Revision 1, dated November 2001, including Appendix 1, dated December 2000, excluding Service Bulletin/K it Drawing Report Fax: Inspect in accordance with above referenced service bulletin. Inspection before the effective date of this Directive in accordance with the original issue of above referenced service bulletin, including Appendix 1, is acceptable for compliance with this inspection requirement for Group A aircraft.

4.        For Model Hawker 800 aircraft identified as Group B aircraft in Raytheon Service Bulletin SB 51-3421, Revision 1, dated November 2001, including Appendix 1, dated December 2000, excluding Service Bulletin/Kit Drawing Report Fax: Inspect in accordance with above referenced service bulletin. Inspection before the effective date of this Directive in accordance with the original issue of above referenced service bulletin, including Appendix 1, is acceptable for compliance with the inspection requirement only for those locations identified in the original service bulletin; Revision 1 requires inspections at additional locations.

5.        For Model Hawker 800 aircraft identified as Group C aircraft in Raytheon Service Bulletin SB 51-3421, Revision 1, dated November 2001, including Appendix 1, dated December 2000, excluding Service Bulletin/Kit Drawing Report Fax: Inspect in accordance with above referenced service bulletin. Inspection before the effective date of this Directive in accordance with the original issue of above referenced service bulletin, including Appendix 1, is acceptable for compliance with the inspection requirement only for those locations identified in the original service bulletin; Revision 1 requires inspections at additional locations.

For any discrepant bolt (any Ravenstone Jackson DHS bolt or any bolt that cannot be identified) found during any inspection required by this Directive, before further flight, perform an ultrasonic inspection to determine if the bolt is broken. Replace any broken bolt with a new bolt before further flight, in accordance with the applicable service bulletin.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 July 2003.

Background: This Directive requires a one-time inspection to identify the bolts installed at certain locations in the wing or fuselage. The actions required by this Directive are intended to prevent failure of certain attachment bolts due to manufacturing discrepancies, whic h could result in reduced structural integrity of the aircraft.
