Locating Device - Installation

Applicability: All aircraft with a maximum take-off weight in excess of 5700 kg which are either turbine powered or of a type first certificated in their country of origin on or after 1st January 1965 and which are fitted with an approved flight data recorder.

 

Requirement: Install an approved underwater locating device on the flight data recorder in such a manner that it is not likely to be separated during crash impact.

 

Note: Acceptable performance standards for an underwater locating device are described in Advisory Circular AC No. 21-10 “Flight Recorder Underwater Locating Device” issued by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States of America.
