Amdt 1


Cargo and Baggage Compartment NK Lighting - Inspection

 

Applicability: All aircraft having lighting within cargo and baggage compartments.

 

Requirement: 1. Inspect cargo and baggage compartment lighting installations to ensure that lamps are protected against the possibility of mechanical damage and are such that cargo or baggage placed adjacent to lamps will not be subjected to excessive temperatures when lamps are operating continuously.

 

2. Installations which do not comply shall be suitably modified.

 

Note: Most installations require a protective metal screen to maintain a separation between baggage and cargo. The lamp should be of a minimum size consistent with lighting requirements.
