Fin Forward Attachment Fitting 2/96

 

Applicability: All models which have achieved one year since manufacture.

 

Requirement: To prevent failure of the fin forward attachment fitting accomplish the following:

 

  1. Remove fairing P/N 24231 at base of fin leading edge.

 

2.    Inspect fitting P/N 243017-2 or 243017-3 and adjacent fin and fuselage structure for cracks and corrosion.

 

3.    Remove corrosion or renew parts as necessary and protect surfaces.

Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after 31 January 1977 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 12 months. Revised effective date of this AD is 1 February 1996.

 

Background: Amendment 1 relaxed the compliance in view of information which suggested that the more stringent compliance affected sealing of the subject area, and could be detrimental.
