Amdt 2


In Wing Aileron Control Cables 9/96

 

Applicability: F.27 Mk.050 S/n 20103 to 20172 not in compliance with Fokker SB F50-27-016 Part 2.

 

Requirement: 1. Unless already accomplished in accordance with the previous issues of this Directive:

 

  1. for aircraft pre- SB F50-27-016 Part 1, increase the aileron cable tension in accordance with Part 1 of the Accomplishment Instructions of Fokker SB F50- 27-016 Rev.2; or

 

b.    for aircraft post- SB F50-27-016 Part 1, verify the aileron cable tension in the LH and RH wings is in accordance with Part 1 of the Accomplishment Instructions of Fokker SB F50-27-016 Rev.2.

 

2. Replace all aileron control cables in the wing, P/Nos F8502-907-405, -407, -409,

-411, -429, -431, -433 and -435; in accordance with Fokker S.B. F50-27-040.

 

Replacement of the aileron cables, and modification of the pulley bracket in accordance with Fokker S.B. F50-27-016 Part 2 is an acceptable means of compliance with this paragraph.

 

Note: RLD AD BLA nr.1995-075/3(A) refers.

 

Compliance: For Requirement 1: Within 30 days after 9 November 1995.

 

For Requirement 2: Before 28 February 1997.

 

The Compliance for Requirement 1 remains unchanged by this Amendment. This amendment becomes effective on 15 August 1996.

Background:  Several incidents with early production aircraft have shown that when the tension of the aileron cables is lower than specified, the cable turnbuckles can rub against the edges of the structure lightening holes through which they pass.

 

Amendment 1 reflects changes to the RLD AD at issue 2.

 

Amendment 2 - investigation further to the earlier issues of this Directive has shown that replacement of the wing aileron cables with improved items, will prevent recurrence of the problem that initiated this Directive.

 

The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 12 October 1995.

 

Amendment 1 of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 9 November 1995.

Overview
