For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/F27/153 Aircraft Flight Manual - Propeller Flight Idle 11/2000

DM

Applicability: Fokker F27 Mks 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 series aircraft.

Requirement:  Verify the affected Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) procedures agree with Fokker Manual Change Notification - Operational (MNCO) F27-005 dated February 14, 1998.

Correct any AFM that does not comply with MNCO F27-005. This can be accomplished by inserting a copy of MNCO F27-005 into the AFM.

Note: RLD AD 2000-100 also refers.

Compliance: No later than 18 October 2000.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 October 2000.

Background: This Directive is prompted by incidents that occurred on various turboprop aircraft types where the power levers have been inadvertently placed into the Beta (ground) range in flight. Two incidents are known to have occurred on F27 aircraft. The action prescribed will ensure that an associated AFM revision has been incorporated into the AFM.
