Life Jackets (RFD) - Inspection

Applicability:

All RFD life jackets type 80 MK2, type 80 MK2BA and type 1001.

 

Requirement:

Accomplish one of the following:-

 

 

  1. (a) Inspect for discolouration, brittleness to touch or porosity; and

 

(b) Pressure test - inflate life jacket with clean dry air to 3 P.S.I. No loss of pressure is permitted over one minute. Inflate to 300mm water gauge. Max loss permitted, 20mm over five minutes.

 

2.    Test in accordance with a scheme acceptable to the Secretary.

 

3.    Return life jacket to RFD service agent for inspection and test.

 

Note: Major defect reports must be submitted detailing serial number of defective life jacket and the nature of the deterioration.

 

Compliance: Unless already accomplished within the last six months, before 30 November 1984.

 

Background:  This Directive is issued to ensure the integrity of life jackets made from material specification DTI-MS3/14/0446 by Bramac Industries.
