Flap Actuators 2/92
Applicability: Model EMB-110, equipped with flap linear actuators EEMCO P/N D-2246-5, D- 2246-6, D-2246-31 and D-2246-41.
Note: Actuators P/N D-2246-3 and D-2246-4 were deleted by the previous issue of this Directive.
Requirement: Inspect and lubricate in accordance with Part I and Part II of Brazil CTA AD 82-07-04 R2 Amdt 39-678.
Note: Embraer SB 110-27-043 Rev 2 refers in part.
Compliance: For Part I of Requirement Document:
At intervals not to exceed 1500 landings or 12 months after 3 February 1992; whichever occurs first.
For Part II of Requirement Document:
At intervals not to exceed 4500 landings or 36 months after 3 February 1992; whichever occurs first.
The compliance of the previous issue of this Directive was: at intervals not exceeding 1500 landings or 12 months, whichever occurs first.
Background: An incident occurred where a flap retracted under aerodynamic loads due to the failure of the flap linear actuator ball return tube, which was caused by the ingress of moisture. This resulted in a flap asymmetry situation which affected the safety of the flight.
Amendment 5 is raised to reflect the requirements of the recently issued Country of Origin AD.
