Door Locking Mechanism 6/94
Applicability: Model EMB-110 with serial numbers as listed in Embraer SB 110-52-0045 Revision 1.
Requirement: Action in accordance with Embraer Service Bulletin 110-52-0045 or 110-52-0045 Revision 1.

Compliance: Unless already accomplished, within 500 hours time in service after 9 December 1993.
The compliance of the previous issue of this Directive remains unchanged. This Amendment is effective from 26 May 1994.
Background: The recent loss of the rear cabin door from an overseas Embraer Bandeirante aircraft was reported to have impacted the horizontal stabilizer and resulted in an accident. Preliminary investigation by the Brazilian Authority had revealed the existence of excessive wear in certain parts of the door locking mechanism. This Directive required an inspection to check the integrity of certain parts of the door locking mechanism.
Amendment 1 was issued in response to a revision of the relevant Brazil AD which required modification of the rear door locking mechanism.
Amendment 2 is issued to reflect a revision of the Requirement Document which adds aircraft serial number 110189 to the Applicability as well as editorial corrections.
