Electrical Equipment

 

AD/ELECT/26 Nickel Cadmium Batteries - Double “D”

Washers - Inspection and Removal

Applicability: Sonotone or Marathon type CA-9 and MA-9 Nickel Cadmium Batteries.

Requirement: 1. Inspect battery lid to ensure that the socket head cap screws which secure the cells connectors have not cut through the lid gasket.

 

2.    Inspect the top of the battery to ensure that P/N 23591-1 double “D” washers are not fitted under the head of the P/N 10488-20 socket head cap screws.

 

3.    If Double “D” washers are fitted remove them from under the head of all the socket head cap screws. Check connector straps and cell terminals for cleanliness, replace connectors and assemble all P/N 10488-20 socket head cap screws and P/N 16128-1 Belleville spring washers finger tight. Finally tighten all socket head cap screws to a torque value of 35-50 inch lbs.
