AD/DHC-8/5
Amdt 1
Fire Bottle Explosive Squib Wiring 6/89 TX
Applicability: All DHC-8 aircraft series 100 and 300.
Requirement: 1. Action in accordance with Boeing Canada de Havilland Division Alert Service Bulletin A8-26-8.
2. Action in accordance with Boeing Canada de Havilland Division Service Bulletin 8-26-9.
Compliance: Requirement 1: Prior to 14 April 1989.
Requirement 2: Incorporation in conjunction with Requirement 1 is recommended, but not later than 7 May 1989.
Background: As a result of the special inspection outlined in Boeing Canada de Havilland Division ASB A8-26-7 (as required by the original issue of this AD), some fire bottle squibs have been found mis-wired. This error can cause a fire bottle to be discharged into the wrong engine. Amendment 1 to this AD is issued to update the Requirement documents and provide a method of preventing cross connection of fire bottle squibs during maintenance.
