De Havilland DHC-1 (Chipmunk) Series Aeroplanes

Amdt 2

Applicability: All models.


Fuel System - Modification 2/85

 

Requirement: Modify the fuel system in accordance with one of the following schemes:

 

  1. Rework the fuel system to make it possible for either fuel tank to be selected individually in flight from either cockpit. Examples of approved methods of complying with this requirement are as follows:

 

  1. Rework of fuel lines and installation of a three-way selector cock (Positions - right tank to engine, left tank to engine, both tanks off) in accordance with DCA Drawing VH.102, in lieu of the existing ON-OFF cock.

 

b.    Installation similar to that covered by DCA Drawing but utilizing a four-way selector cock (Positions - both tanks to engine, right tank to engine, left tank to both tanks off) and revised arrangement of the fuel cock duplicate control cable and pulleys to permit increased angular movement of the selector levers.

 

c.    Rework of fuel lines and installation of an additional ON-OFF fuel cock to provide independent control for each tank in accordance with DCA Drawing No. HH 3627. or

 

2.    Install a common venting system for the fuel tanks in accordance with De Havilland Modifications H207, 210 and 212 and replace the spring-loaded check valves with non-spring- loaded check valves in accordance with De Havilland Modifications H165 or H199; or

 

3.    DCA/DH-1/5; or

 

4. ANO 105.1.14.15.5.5, Issue 2.

 

Compliance: At next major inspection or before 1 December 1972, whichever occurs first.
