Tailplane - Inspection and Modification

Applicability: All models.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the lower surface of the tailplane in the vicinity of the shock absorber attachment bracket, for buckling and other damage. Model TMK 10 aircraft in which buckling or other damage is present shall be repaired and modified in accordance with Chipmunk Modification H.167. All other models shall be repaired in accordance with an approved repair scheme.
2. Inspect the shock absorber upper attachment bracket for security, elongation of bolt holes and other damage.
3. Remove the shock absorber upper and lower attachment bolts and inspect for excessive wear, cracks, evidence of shearing and other damage.
Compliance: For paragraph 1 -
(a) Inspect all model TMK 10 aeroplanes not modified in accordance with Chipmunk Modification H.167 - daily and after each heavy landing.
(b) Inspect all model TMK 10 aeroplanes modified in accordance with Chipmunk Modification H.167 and all other models of Chipmunk aeroplanes at intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service and after each heavy landing.
For paragraph 2 and 3 - Inspect all models at intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service and after each heavy landing.
