Main Rotor Mast 2/90

 

Applicability: All model 365 series equipped with main rotor mast part number 365A31.1060.21, 22, 24 or 26.

 

Requirement: 1. Inspect and rework in accordance with Para 1C of Aerospatiale Dauphin Service Bulletin 05.08 Rev 2.

 

2.    Visually inspect for assembly damage in accordance with Para 1C(3)(c)(ca) of SB

05.08 Rev 2.

 

3.    Visually inspect (without disassembly) for scores, corrosion or tool marks in the fillet radius underneath the top flange (Zone 2 of Figure 1 of the SB) and rework as necessary, in accordance with Paras 1C(2)(aa), 1C(2)(ac) and 1C(3)(aa) of SB

Compliance: 1. Before exceeding 300 hours time in service or within the next 50 hours time in service after 22 September 1986, whichever is the later, and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 400 hours time in service. In addition, inspect immediately following the occurrence of a sudden or repeated severe tracking defect.

 

2.    After performing any work on the bolts or nuts which attach the MRH to the rotor mast.

 

3.    Within the next 50 hours time in service or 2 months after 22 September 1986, whichever occurs first, and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 50 hours time in service or 2 months, whichever occurs first.

 

Background: The manufacturer advises the need to inspect the mast for corrosion pits, tool marks and fretting to preclude the possibility of fatigue cracking. This Directive has been amended to include additional inspections.
