SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Inspection

Applicability: CFM International (CFMI) CFM56 Series engines as listed in the requirement document.
Requirement: Amend the Airworthiness Limitations Sections of the Engine Shop Manuals to include the mandatory inspections per the FAA AD 2002-13-03.
Note: FAA AD 2002-13-03, Amdt 39-12790 refers which supersedes FAA AD 2000- 12-01. This Directive supersedes AD/CFM56/17.
Compliance: Within 30 days after the effective date of this AD.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 September 2002.
Background: This directive is prompted by an FAA study of in-service events involving uncontained failures of critical rotating parts. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent critical life- limited rotating engine part failure, which could result in an uncontained engine failure and damage to the aeroplane.
