SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.


 

General Electric Turbine Engines - CF6 Series

 

AD/CF6/54 High Pressure Turbine Disc 7/2004

 

Applicability: General Electric Company (GE) CF6-80 model turbine engines as specified in FAA AD 2004-04-07.

 

Requirement: Action per the technical requirements of FAA AD 2004-04-07.

 

Note 1: FAA AD 2004-04-07, Amdt 39-13488 refers.

 

Note 2: This directive supersedes CASA AD/CF6/44 ( FAA AD 2001-10-07) and AD/CF6/50 ( FAA AD 2003-01-05).

 

Compliance: As specified in the requirement document

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 8 July 2004.

 

Background:  CF6-80 engines have experienced uncontained high pressure turbine disc failures including one in Australia investigated by ATSB per report No. 200205780. This directive introduces inspection and rework procedures to minimise disc failures.
