SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

General Electric Turbine Engines - CF6 Series

 

AD/CF6/46 Inspection of Life Limited Parts 6/2002

Applicability:  All General Electric CF6-80A, CF6-80C2 and CF6-80E1 series engines. Requirement:              Amend the engine inspection schedule detailed in the operator’s CASA approved

System of Maintenance to reflect the “MANDATORY INSPECTIONS” section of FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2002-07-12.

 

Note 1: FAA AD 2002-07-12 refers and supersedes FAA AD 2000-08-12. Note 2: This AD supersedes AD/CF6/42.

Compliance: Within 30 days after the effective date of this Directive.

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 June 2002.

 

Background:  This Directive has been issued to require additional inspection of critical life limited components. Service experience has indicated the need for additional inspections to prevent uncontained failures.
