COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY

SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

Cessna 188 (Agwagon) Series Aeroplanes

AD/CESSNA 188/23

Amdt 1

Exhaust System 11/86

Applicability: All models with the exception of turbocharged aircraft which do not have a cabin heater fitted.

Requirement: Inspect the exhaust system for leaks, using the technique detailed in Cessna SL SE73-22.

Note: Turbocharged aircraft fitted with a cabin heater need only have the heater shroud area inspected for leaks in accordance with the Requirement document.

Compliance: At each issue of a new Maintenance Release.

Background: Some instances of carbon monoxide contamination of the cockpit have been attributed to exhaust leakage from fatigue cracks. This leak testing supplements the visual inspections currently called for by the Maintenance Manual. This Directive has been amended to remove from compliance turbocharged aircraft which do not have a cabin heater fitted.
