AD/CESSNA 185/11 Non-Return Valves in Electric
Fuel Pump Bypass Line Applicability: All models with dual Bendix auxiliary fuel pump installation. Requirement: 1. Identify the electric fuel pumps bypass non-return valve.
10/66
2. If the non-return valve is Republic Manufacturing Company P/N 485-6D-1, modify or replace as required in paragraph 4 or 5.
3. If the non-return valve is other than Republic P/N 485-6D-1, test the valve in situ, as called up in Section 13 of the Cessna 100 Series Service Manual for trouble shooting the fuel system of the Model 185. Where the suspected cause is a defective check valve in the electric fuel pumps bypass line disconnect the outlet and inlet lines from the non-return valve. If fuel flows from the inlet line but not through the valve, the valve is defective and must be rectified or replaced.
4. Modify the non-return valve in accordance with an approved scheme to ensure that the opening pressure is not greater than 8 inches of water, and permanently mark on the valve “OPENS 8 in. WATER”.
5. Alternatively, replace Republic P/N 485-6D-1 valve by Parker aircraft Company valve P/N 1111-517702 or Dukes Astronautics Valve P/N 367-00 and rework the system in accordance with the attached Figure 1.
Compliance: Before 1 January 1967.
