SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

Cessna 180, 182 and Wren 460 Series Aeroplanes

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/CESSNA 180/80 Oil Pressure Switch 4/2000 DM

Applicability: Cessna 182S model aeroplanes with serial numbers 18280001 through 18280660. Requirement:               1. Inspect the oil pressure switch in accordance with Cessna Service Bulletin SB00-

79-01 dated 31 January 2000 to determine if it is part number (P/N) 77041 (or an

approved equivalent P/N that is a part having a Parts Manufacturing Approval) or P/N 83278 (or an approved equivalent P/N). If the switch is P/N 83278 no further action is required.

Note 1: For the purposes of this Directive, an approved equivalent P/N is defined as P/N approved under FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval or a CASA Australian Parts Manufacturing Approval.

2.    If P/N 77041 (or an approved equivalent P/N) oil pressure switch is installed, replace this switch, with a P/N 83278 (or an approved equivalent P/N) oil pressure switch in accordance with SB00-79-01.

3.    Oil pressure switch P/ N 77041 (or an approved equivalent P/N) may not be installed on any aeroplane.

Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Within the next 25 hours time in service from the effective date of this Directive.

For Requirement 2 - Before further flight.

For Requirement 3 - As of the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 8 March 2000.

SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

Background:  This Directive results from reports being received by the FAA of failures of oil pressure switch diaphragms. These failures could result in loss of engine oil and subsequent partial or complete loss of engine power. The Directive requires replacement of the defective switches.
