AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/BELL 222/25 Main Rotor Pendulum Weight Support 11/2001

Applicability: All BHTC Model 222, 222B, and 222U helicopters.
Requirement: Remove main rotor pendulum weight supports part number 222-011-114-103, as identified with serial numbers having the prefix “HD”, and replace with a serviceable part; in accordance with Bell Helicopter Textron Alert Service Bulletin 222-01-91 or 222U-01-62, as applicable.
Note: Transport Canada AD CF-2001-28 refers.
Compliance: Within 25 hours time in service after 19 September 2001.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 September 2001.
Background: The manufacturer received a report of an incident where one of the main rotor pendulum weight support failed, shedding the pendulum weight set in flight. Subsequent investigation revealed that the failed support had manufacturing discrepancies.
