AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/BELL 204/41 Tail Rotor Blades 8/2000
Applicability: Model 204B, all serial no. with the blade Part and Serial Numbers specified in the Requirement document.
Requirement: Inspect in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 96-12-25.
Compliance: Before further flight after the effective date of this directive, and thereafter at intervals not exceeding seven days.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 August 2000.
Background: The directive was raised to detect any debonding of the tail rotor blade main spar internal leading edge doubler to preclude failure of a blade and subsequent loss of a helicopter. This directive includes all a/c serial numbers to account for any blade serial number and aircraft rematch over the intervening years since the initial issue by the FAA.
