Beechcraft 400 Series Aeroplanes
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/BEECH 400/17 Engine Fire Extinguisher Squib Wiring 5/2000

Applicability: Model 400A series aeroplanes, serial numbers RK-45 and RK-49 through RK-209 inclusive; Model 400T series aeroplanes (T-1A), serial numbers TT-01 through TT- 180 inclusive; and Model 400T series aeroplanes (TX), serial numbers TX-01 through TX-09 inclusive.
Requirement: 1. Perform a one-time general visual inspection of the left and right engine fire extinguisher bottle squibs, in accordance with Raytheon Aircraft Service Bulletin SB 26-3250, Revision 1, dated July 1999, to detect incorrect wiring.
Note 1: For the purposes of this Directive, a general visual inspection is defined as: "A visual examination of an interior or exterior area, installation, or assembly to detect obvious damage, failure, or irregularity. This level of inspection is made under normally available lighting conditions such as daylight, hangar lighting, flashlight, or drop-light, and may require removal or opening of access panels or doors. Stands, ladders, or platforms may be required to gain proximity to the area being checked."
2. If, as a result of the Requirement 1 inspection, any incorrect wiring is detected, repair it in accordance with SB 26-3250, Revision 1, dated July 1999.
3. Modify and re-label the wiring of the left and right engine fire extinguisher bottle squibs, in accordance with SB 26-3250, Revision 1, dated July 1999.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 12 April 2000.
Background: This Directive requires a one-time inspection to detect incorrect wiring of the engine fire extinguisher bottle squibs, and corrective action, if necessary. It also requires modification to the wiring and the addition of wire harness and bottle labelling.
These actions are intended to prevent failure of the engine fire extinguisher bottle to discharge, or discharge of the wrong engine fire extinguisher bottle.
