Beechcraft 400 Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/BEECH 400/10 Cabin Seat Frames 5/95

Applicability: Beech Model 400A aircraft serial numbers RK-1 to RK-40 inclusive and RK-45 equipped with Tosington Cabin Seat frames having serial numbers prior to 5606 on which Modification Kit 303-307 has not been installed.

 

Requirement:  1. Visually inspect for cracks in the forward and aft lower seat frame members at the bushings in the area adjacent to the ends of both bearing shafts in accordance with Tosington Enterprises Service Bulletin 001, Revision 1.

 

If cracking is found, repair in accordance with Tosington Enterprises Service Bulletin 001, Revision 1.

 

2. Check and measure the gap between the bearing shafts and the forward and aft lower seat frame members. Rectify gaps by shimming with AN960-516 (or equivalent) washers. Check, measure and rectify in accordance with Tosington Enterprises Service Bulletin 001, Revision 1.

Compliance: Action in accordance with Requirements 1 and 2 within 200 hours time in service from 27 April 1995.

 

Background: Reports have been received of cracking of the lower seat frames. The cracking is due, in part, to gaps existing between the seat frame and the bearing shafts. This AD will inspect for cracks and rectify any gaps found.
