SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: All BAe 146-100, -200 and -300 series aeroplanes, and all Avro 146-RJ70, -RJ85 and
-RJ100 series aeroplanes.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the nose landing gear differential box in accordance with BAe Systems (Operations) Service Bulletin ISB.32-168 to establish that they are torque loaded in accordance with Messier Dowty Service Bulletin 146-32-154, which calls for inspection/reinstatement of the correct torque settings.
2. Do not fit to an aeroplane a nose landing gear differential box that does not comply with Requirement 1 of this Airworthiness Directive.

Compliance: For Requirement 1: By 30 March 2002.
For Requirement 2: After the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 February 2002.
Background: The CAA(UK) advises that there have been several reports of uncommanded inputs to the nose wheel steering. Investigation determined the cause to be significantly low torque settings of the nose landing gear differential box collar cap screw. This Directive is therefore issued to reinstate the original design standard torque of 60 lb/in.
