SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

British Aerospace BAe 146 Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/BAe 146/103 Fuel Quantity Indication Wiring 5/2003

 

Applicability: BAe 146 100, 200 and 300 series aeroplanes and Avro 146-RJ70, RJ85 and RJ100 series aeroplanes.

 

Requirement: 1. Inspect the fuel quantity indication wiring loom for chafing and the p-clips securing the loom to the wing rib for damage. Both inspections are to be carried out in accordance with BAe Systems (Operations) Limited Inspection Service Bulletin (ISB) 28-030 dated 21 February 2003.

2.        If, during the Requirement 1 inspection, any evidence of chafing of the wiring loom and/or damage to the p-clips is detected, carry out the rectification actions specified in ISB 28-030.

 

3.        Protect the wiring looms by installing spiral wrapping in accordance with ISB 28-030.

 

Note: The ISB has been classified as Mandatory by the CAA(UK).

 

Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Before 30 June 2003.

 

For Requirements 2 and 3 - Before further flight after the Requirement 1 inspection. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 May 2003.

Background: BAe Systems has received reports of the fuel quantity indication wiring chafing against the vertical flange between p-clips securing the wiring loom to the inboard face of wing rib 9 and between the inner faces of the p-clips and the loom.

This Directive requires a visual inspection to detect any damage and, if necessary, rectification of any damage.

Overview
