Applicability: This Directive is applicable to 767 series aeroplanes with line numbers 1 through 618 except for line numbers 580, 590, 594, 598 and 600.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the aileron control cables (A2B-3 and A1A-3) and the generator power feeder cables (W208 and W204) on both the right and left sides of the aeroplane, in accordance with Boeing Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 767-24A0113 Revision 1 dated 2 July 1996.
2. If necessary, repair the cables and adjust the clearances between the cables in accordance with the ASB.

Compliance: Prior to 16 July 1996.
Background: The FAA has received two reports of failure of the aileron control cable. These failures have been attributed to inadequate clearance between the left side aileron control cable and the right generator power feeder cable. Actions mandated by this Directive are intended to minimise the possibility of cable chafing and subsequent damage to cables, which could result in reduced controllability of the aeroplane.
