SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B767/188 Inboard Main Flap Outboard Hinge Fitting 10/2003
Applicability: Model 767 series aircraft, line numbers 1 through 826, 830, 842, 855, 856, 859, 862,
864 through 866, 868, 869, 871 through 874, and 876.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2003-13-01 Amdt 39-13201.
Note: Boeing Alert Service Bulletins 767-57A0076 Revision 1 and 767-57A0079 refer.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of 2 October 2003.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 2 October 2003.
Background: A report was received of lug fractures on both the inboard and outboard hinge fittings of the outboard hinge assembly mounted on the main flap. The hinge assembly provides one of two primary attachment points of the inboard trailing edge aft flap.
Failure of the hinge assembly could result in separation of the inboard aft flap from the wing with potential damage to the aircraft external structure.
