AD/B767/157 Slat Track Housing Drain Tube 11/2001

Applicability: Model 767 series aircraft, line numbers 1 through 757.

Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2001-14-19 Amdt 39-12330.

Note: Boeing Service Bulletins 767-57A0060 Revision 1 and 767-57-0068 refer.

Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document with a revised effective date of 1 November 2001.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 1 November 2001.

Background: Operators reported fuel leaks from slat track housing drain tubes where the tube penetrates the lower wing skin. Further investigation revealed the fuel leaks originated from a crack in the drain tubes. Additionally, after production incorporation of new slat track housing drain tubes, the manufacturer determined that the installation did not meet current required bonding specifications.
