The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Amdt 1

Airworthiness Limitations 3/2004

Applicability: Model 767-200, -300, -300F, and -400ER series aircraft, with line numbers 1 through 895.

Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2003-18-10 Amdt 39-13301.

Note: Maintenance Planning Data Document D622T001 and D622T001-9 refer.

Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of 27 November 2003.

This Amendment becomes effective on 18 March 2004.

Background: The FAA issued a Directive which was prompted by analysis of data that identified specific initial inspection thresholds and repetitive inspection intervals for certain principal structural elements to be added to the Airworthiness Limitations Instructions. The actions specified by this Directive are intended to ensure that fatigue cracking of various principal structural elements is detected and corrected.

Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new FAA AD, which expands applicability and requires incorporating a new revision into the Airworthiness Limitations Section of the MPD Document.

The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 27 December 2001.

David Villiers

Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 6 February 2004

The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 25 February 2004.
