AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

AD/B767/132 Air Conditioning Duct Insulation 4/2001

Applicability:  Model 767-200, -300 and -300F series aircraft having the line numbers listed in the requirement document.

 

Requirement:  Rework duct assemblies or replace existing duct assemblies with new or reworked items in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2000-26-05 Amdt 39-12055.

 

Compliance: Before 19 April 2007.

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 April 2001.

 

Background: An FAA AD has been raised to prevent potential ignition of fibreglass insulation material installed on the outside of the Environmental control system (ECS) ducts, which could propagate a small fire and lead to a larger fire.
