AD/B737/93 Galley Feeder Wiring 10/95
Applicability: This Directive is applicable to all 737-200, -300, -400 and -500 model aircraft equipped with Sabena Technics galleys, Part Numbers as follows:

Requirement: 1. Inspect the galley feeder wire bundles for chafing in accordance with Sabena Service Letter SAB 24-001 Revision C dated 27 March 1995, if necessary repair, replace or reposition in accordance with the Sabena Service Letter.
2. Modify the Galley feeder wire bundles in accordance with Sabena Service Letter SAB 24-001 Revision C dated 27 March 1995.
Note: Belgian AD 95-01 dated 25 April 1995 refers.
Compliance: 1. Within 300 hours time in service after 14 September 1995.
2. Within 3600 hours time in service after 14 September 1995.
Background: A Boeing 737-300 operator reported experiencing smoke and sparks emanating from the ceiling panel above the galley. Investigation revealed that the wire bundle feeding the galley was severed due to melting, which was caused by chafed wiring short circuiting. This Directive provides for early detection of chafing of the wire bundles.
