AlliedSignal (Lycoming) Turbine Engines - ALF502 and LF507 Series

 

AD/ALF/15 Fuel Manifold Inspections 9/97

Applicability: All AlliedSignal ALF502 and LF507 series engines incorporating a fuel manifold listed in AlliedSignal Service Bulletin ALF/LF 73-1002.

 

Requirement: Inspect affected fuel manifold assemblies in accordance with AlliedSignal Service Bulletin ALF/LF 73-1002.

 

Replacement of both L.H. and R.H. fuel manifolds with the improved manifold assemblies, P/No 2-163-620-37, and -38, constitutes terminating action for this Directive.

 

Note 1: Compliance with later issues of the referenced service bulletin satisfies the intent of this Directive.

 

Note 2: FAA AD 97-11-05 also refers.

 

Compliance: As detailed in the requirement document.

 

This directive becomes effective on 14 August 1997.

 

Background: This directive is issued following reports of cracking of the fuel manifold assembly which has lead to fuel leaks and a potential for in-flight fires.
